Countdown to Halloween 2010! Admiring Adams: "The World Cannot Wait for a Deadman"

How 'bout this, Groove-ophiles! A Deadman chiller (what's a Halloween Countdown without a ghost?) from Neal Adams' all-but-forgotten Deadman back-up series from Aquaman (issues 50-52)! This little mini-series was a bit of a departure for the Ghost of Boston Brand as it was more sci-fi oriented and tied into/ran parallel with the Aquaman lead feature from those self-same issues. Neat, huh? If ya ask really nice, I might post the other stories for ya, but for today here's Neal Adams and "The World Cannot Wait for a Deadman" from Aquaman #51 (February 1970)!

Dy-No-Mite Duos Week! Admiring Adams: The Spectre and Wildcat

What's happening, Groove-ophiles! What happens when you pair the (arguably) most powerful member of the Justice Society with it's (arguably) weakest? You get a freaky-deaky classic (The Spectre doesn't even show up until page 14 of his own comic--and the "team-up" only lasts for a couple'a pages!) of the early-Groovy Age DC variety! Writer Mike Friedrich and artist-supreme Neal Adams laid this Spectre/Wildcat team-up on us in The Spectre #3 (December 1967), and Ol' Groove can only say--it's a doozy! When you look at the following pages it's easy to see why Adams rocked the comicbook world on it's foundations. Enjoy!

Admiring Adams: "The Powerless Power Ring!"

What it is, Groove-ophiles! Y'know, when fans think about the legendary Green Lantern/Green Arrow creative team of Denny O'Neil and Neal Adams (sometimes referred to as "Denny O'Neal Adams"--take THAT, Hollywood!), they think (naturally) of Green Lantern/Green Arrow #'s 76-89 (January 1970-January 1972) and Flash #'s 217-219 (May-September 1972)...and that's all. But, as you, you lucky Groove-ophile you, are about to see, Denny and Neal teamed up one more time (with definitive Gl/GA inker Dick Giordano) for this sweet little Green Lantern solo-tale. "The Powerless Power Ring!", from Flash #226 (December 1973) just might be the "forgotten" O'Neil/Adams swan-song. Until now! Dig it, baby!

Admiring Adams: "The Humbug Run"

Although this DC classic was released in November, 1970, Hot Wheels #6's "The Humbug Run" is definitely a cool-car-Christmas-themed comic. Buckle up and get ready for a far-out ride courtesy Len Wein, Neal Adams, and Dick Giordano, Groove-ophiles!
