From Charlton Comics' Haunted #3 (October 1971), here's a Steve Ditko shocker called "A Stay of Execution!" Enjoy!

  1. The eyes of the District Execution on page five are truly creeping me out!

  2. Ditko's art for Charlton's mystery line in the early 1970s is inspired. His linework, detail and facial expressions are excellent. In comparing this work to his Captain Marvel story, from only a few years later, there is a lot missing in terms of detail and solidity. I looked forward to Ditko's return to Marvel in the late 1970's, bot often his art, especially in the inking stage, was weak and uninspired.
