I have always thought Don McGregor didn't get enough work, or praise, so thanks for this Rich.

You outline here how exciting it was for you, but let me tell you something. I used to walk all over Cambridge(UK) and visit every - and I mean EVERY - newstand for Marvels in the 70s, it was a hard obsession. Imagine my surprise in reading 27 panels on one page; or seeing panels' action taking place in the story titles!
Heady days, who needed drugs? As I heard recently, this was a poor person's art education. Damn right

Many thanks for sharingNorman Boydhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15786362698394605291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7897120082101927069.post-86219013612599362322010-11-27T17:52:24.004-05:002010-11-27T17:52:24.004-05:00whew...nice post. I loved your issues of Jungle Action, as well as the late great Billy Graham. I have fond memories of your use of the cinemanic use of panels & of zip a tone for shadows & shading.

I remember it's use well in Tomb of Dracula & Nova the human rocket. I took commerical art for 4 years in a trade & techinal high school, Same one Jerry Ordway graduated from. We both had the same art teachers as well. I'm so happy you decided to do these blogs. Their very interesting, fun & educational.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for that Creey art for you also. That the great Wally Wood inked. I always though Jer's art looked alot like a cross between Wally Wood's & John Romita SR's myself.

I wish we could had seen you do the whole run of Morbius's adventures. In the too short lived B & W Vampire Tales. All Marvel's great B & W monster mags ended way too soon. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment of your adventures. Some of this helps me understand why today's comics from the "big two" seem so bland compare to those of yesteryears': story retreat and cross-company storylines indeed! Sadly, what we see are "company books" and not books by creators with maverick and independent visions.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
