THE HORROR! by Jim Trombetta, check out the story "Dungeon of Doom" from CHAMBER OF CHILLS (March 1952), which appears on page 37 in the book. This old story is so similar to "The Things in the Subway" that I wonder if Cuti and Staton were consciously updating it for the 1970s. It's basically the same exact story.
