It was so good in the 60s and early/mid 70s, but the writing gradually decreased and it wasn't until Walt Simonson came aboard that it felt rejuvenated. I've got all the masterworks volumes of the 60s/70s and they're just so good. Kirby was so creative on this title, and Big John Buscema's work was wonderful. I cherish the stories involving Hercules, Ulik, The Enchanters, etc. I bought a lot of the 70s titles just for the Gil Kane covers. jszillahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02952871339072195186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7897120082101927069.post-26758634403627961142016-05-13T06:50:44.121-04:002016-05-13T06:50:44.121-04:00The Lee/Kirby Thor run was second only to their am...The Lee/Kirby Thor run was second only to their amazing 102 issues of the FF. So the first cover leaps out at me and brings back such fond memories. EXCELSIOR and face front. keythd23https://www.blogger.com/profile/00690368680707726203noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7897120082101927069.post-79814831126395542072016-05-13T04:03:51.423-04:002016-05-13T04:03:51.423-04:00Nice lot. As you say, once upon a time poster-shots were just rare enough to seem special, now they are just the new one. I used to be able to keep track of the books I needed by memory of the covers but had to give it up and write stuff down, when modern books became so bland and repetitive.

Rip OffRip Jaggerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09936426877024852134noreply@blogger.com
