The Grooviest Covers of All Time: Herb Trimpe Made Me Buy These!

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Happy Herb Trimpe is one of the Groovy Age greats, and that's a fact. His over-half decade tenure on the Incredible Hulk clinched that, for sure, not to mention his work on Godzilla, Ant-Man (in Marvel Feature) and tons of other cool stuff. You may (or may not) remember that Herb turned out some truly bodacious covers for Mighty Marvel during the late 60s/early 70s, so Ol' Groove's gonna lay a bunch upon ya right now, just so ya know I ain't jivin' ya. Enjoy!

  1. Gotta confess that Trimpe wasn't at the top of my 70's list, I don't think he was well served by inkers.
Except for Trimpe and John Severin.
    That was a revelation.
Maybe you could share some of those.

  2. These are wonderful, especially the Hulk/Kazar one. Didn't see a lot of these at the time as I was reading UK reprints so I enjoyed this a lot. Herb has always been one of my favourites.

  4. Was never much of a fan of the western comics but that Western Gunfighters 5 was one I had to have just for the awesome cover. If I remember right I traded a couple comics to get that one. No longer have it though and I don't remember what happened to it.

  6. Trimpe and JSeverin were like Sal Buscema and Sam Grainger - neither ever looked as good as they did with those respective inkers.

Who inked the Iron Man cover - must have been a Severin. Did marie ever ink?
