The Boys from Derby: "A Winner's Curse" by Unknown and Howard

Hooowoooooooooo's it goin', Groove-ophiles! Whaddya say we dig on a superior Wayne Howard art job (who wrote it? Mort Todd, can ya enlighten us?) from Ghost Manor Vol. 2, #4 (February 1972)? Yeah, Ol' Groove thought that might grab ya! Guess you could call it..."A Winner's Curse!"

    He used to be one of Wood's assistants, and it seems he taught him a little too well.

  3. Copy job or not, I never read a Charlton horror tale that I didn't like, or find some reason to like it.

    Charlton might have turned out grade B horror, but grade B horror is sometimes more fun and entertaining than top of the line horror.

  4. I find it odd that except for a few inking jobs at Marvel, Wayne Howard disappeared after the dissolution of Charlton. Anybody know what happened to him? He would have been a great addition to the House of Ideas, bringing a Wood-like finish to whosever pencils he was inking.

  5. I bought Howard's stuff because of its resemblance to Wood's work. It certainly does not hold up. It looks rather amateurish now.
