This was great, thanks for posting! I always appreciated Mayerik as a kid in the 70s/80s, but he would just show up now and then. Between this, an issue of Savage Sword he did, and the Paradox issue of Marvel Preview he did, I'm realizing that he had a touch with B&W that's up there with Wrightson.
Superb Native legend tale. I love stories told from an animal perspective, and Val Mayerik's art is always gorgeous (especially his females). Val's conveyance of a snowy environ via ink-wash is skillful, to say the least. He's still working and his art's great as ever. His painted pages for 'Void Indigo' are stunning, but I like his b/w work just as much.
Warren, towards the end of their magazine publishing, was bursting with talent as they moved away from the unimpressive artists from Spain that had been their backbone for several years and employed many of the in-demand artists of the day: Wrightson, Starlin, Rubinstein, Mayerik, Severin, Infantino, Chaykin, Simonson (often in combination with one another).
