The Boys from Derby: "Brainfever" by Cuti and Staton

What it is, Groove-ophiles! Today, let's take a look at "Brainfever" from Haunted Love #3 (June 1973). Wonderfully written by Nick Cuti and incredibly illustrated by Joe Staton, this story that shows that sometimes nightmares can come true--and that can be a good thing!

And if you dig the Cuti/Staton team as much as Ol' Groove does, you won't wanna miss this fall's Charlton Arrow Volume 2, Number 1 cause it features Cuti and Staton on (are you ready for this?) a brand new E-Man saga! That and tons more goodies, including the debut of Mr. Mixit by Roger (Ol' Groove's Guns & Rosa editor) McKenzie and Steven (can ya believe he's gonna draw Fantastic Giants for Ol' Groove?!?) Butler!

  1. A love story with a sad ending just as in Romeo and Juliet.

I am glad to see there is still interest in Charlton after all these years. While it couldn't compete with DC or Marvel, they still carved out a niche for themselves and hung on after Whitman and Gold Key stopped publishing.
    Thanks for the post!

  2. Thanks for the heads up on this new project. It's a pity and shame that E-Man has been absent from the stands for all these years and I'm glad that he and Nova have at long last returned. AC Comics getting the nod is a real sweet irony given that Bill Black's outfit were all ready to keep the Charlton fires burning when DC stepped in so many decades ago.

    E-Man forever!
