Grooviest Covers of All Time: Steranko Phase II

When Jim Steranko returned to Marvel to help Stan Lee put together F.O.O.M., he spent some of his spare time creating a batch of truly far-out and iconic covers for a variety of Marvel's mags. Here's a sampling of some of the best of the best circa 1972/73. Wear a bib! Drool is not good for your keyboard, Groove-ophile!

    sweet. I've always loved the Gullivar Jones and the Tex Dawson covers. and check it out, kids! Steranko does the FF!!! oh, if only. . .

    steranko went on a tear for a little bit there. probably needed some $$ for Mediascene's start up.

    don't forget the invisible man cover that he did as well! I'd scan it but no longer have the issue....

    This run of covers was quite eye-catching to me when I saw them as a young lad, and had no idea who Steranko was. Fortunately, Marvel started a Nick Fury reprint book to educate me.

    (Still trying to find a copy of Tex Dawson 1 after all these years.)

    They're all uber-classics, save perhaps the F.F. cover, though it's not without its merits. The Creatures 21, Shanna, and Tex Dawson are out of this world.
