Secret Origins: Two-Face

It is no secret that Ol' Groove's favorite Batman villain is Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face. Two-Face is creepy, twisted, sympathetic, and noble. He's the perfect Batman villain in that he's really the dark side of what Bruce Wayne could have become had he not possessed the strength of character nurtured by his parents and his faithful butler, Alfred.

DC Super-Stars was one of those catch-all books DC put out in the mid-to-late 1970s. Some issues were reprints, some were all-new, some were a mix of old and new. Some issues starred particular heroes, others were "themed" issues involving outer space, guns, oddball team-ups, or...Secret Origins. In February 1977, DC Super-Stars #14 featured "Secret Origins of Super-Villains" (under a groovy Jim Aparo cover!), all-new re-tellings of the origins of Two-Face, Gorilla Grodd, and Dr. Light, with added info and twists never before revealed. The Two-Face origin was especially cool, with Jack C. Harris providing a very good plot and gritty scripting and the art team of Ed Davis and Joe Rubenstein producing perfectly paced, appropriately moody art. Got all'a that, Groove-ophiles?? Good! Now, let's dig into the Secret Origin of Two-Face: "Double Take!"
