Grooviest Covers of All Time: Frank Brunner
Frank Brunner was well known as one of Marvel's top masters of mood back in the Swinging Seventies. His covers (as well as his interior art, natch) for offbeat mags like Marvel Premiere/Dr. Strange, Fear/Man-Thing, and Howard the Duck are the stuff of legend. But what happened when Frank's awesome artistry graced the covers of mags featuring barbarians, sci-fi, or--gasp!--DC super-heroes? Wonder no more, Groove-ophiles!
Brunner definetely was one of the top artist in that second/third? wave of hot new talent at Marvel in the mid 70's. I went nuts over his Howard the Duck. I was so disappointed he left after only two issues! GGrrrr!! I just recent picked up his two beautifully painted HTD posters he did back then. I got them both together dirt cheap & in mint condition!! The Ducketeer & Scareface Duck! If only I could find a way to shrink them down for you. I'd scan them for you!
