Sunday Funnies: Charlie's Angels and M*A*S*H* Cracked by John Severin

More of the genius of John Severin from Cracked issues 141-142 (cover-dated May-July 1977). This time he pokes fun at a couple of the most iconic TV shows of the Groovy Age.

    Great find. I can't make any claims about the Charlie's Angels parody, since I never watched an entire episode of it...but speaking as a devoted viewer of M.A.S.H., there are a lot of lines in there that could have been used in real episodes (and may well have been)!

    This wasn't the only time there was a parody of M*A*S*H, IIRC. I think Cracked asked Severin to do a 2nd one that had Hot Lips & Klinger doing a duet. It's either that or it was in Mad, I can't really be sure of which.

    I absolutely loved John Severin's work in Cracked (especially his lifelike rendering of TV and movie actors).

    Having adored his and his sister Marie's work on Marvel's Kull the Conqueror comic book in the 1970s, I was delighted to stumble across his artwork in Cracked (which, along with Marvel and DC comics, was widely distributed in the UK in the 1970s and 1980s).

    As well as illustrating many stories in Cracked, Mr Severin also supplied some superb Cracked covers.
