Tony DeZuniga Week! Groove's Faves: "The Thief Who Loved Supergirl"
Happy Birthday, Tony DeZuniga! To celebrate one of the Groovy Ages' most far-out artists, we're gonna spend the week digging a bonanza of Tony's best. Ol' Groove's gonna kick things off with a fave Supergirl tale that features Mr. DeZuniga's powerful pencils. Tony is best known for his non-superhero work, but stories like "The Thief Who Loved Supergirl" (written by John Albano and inked by Bob Oksner) from Adventure Comics #419 (February 1972) show that the man could draw people in capes pretty doggone well, too!
Love this period of Supergirl in Adventure Comics. The post-Sekowsky period feature some of my favorite Supergirl stories. Oksner and DeZuniga meshed well.
Hopefully, we'll see Tony's work from the few later issues that in which the Black Orchid took over the series.
