Ol' Groove loves him some Hawkman--how 'bout you, Groove-ophiles? Here's a classic Winged Wonder short from Detective Comics #428 (July 1972) by E. Nelson Bridwell, Dick Dillin, and Joe Geilla. Are you ready for..."The Invisible thief of Bleakhill Manor!"?
I don't know how I missed this one for all these years, but what a terrific surprise. I never knew Bridwell and Dillin worked together on anything other than the JLA/JSA/Fawcett three-parter a few years later. And how typical of Nelson that he'd touch base with every aspect of the character no matter how neglected, including talking to birds. Thanks for digging this out!
ReplyDeleteI much preferred Joe Giella together with Dick Dillin on Justice League of America and World's Finest instead of became the norm, Frank McLaughlin. This was a rare occasion at this point with the two of them together on the backup Hawkman story.
