Admiring Adams: "Night of the Living Dead!" by Bates and Adams

Short and sweet, Groove-ophiles: Neal Adams illustrating a Cary Bates scripted El Diablo tale from Weird Western Tales #13 (May 1972). Are you ready for the..."Night of the Living Dead!"?

Was that awesome, or what? Neal's the real deal!!

  1. Yes, Neal Adams was in top form in those days. Now he's a caricature of his former self - literally - BATMAN: ODYSSEY looks like Mort Drucker spoofing the '70s Neal Adams; the character's facial proportions are all wonky and overemoting. Neal needs to go back and recover what he has lost (if he can), or call it a day.

  2. I haven't seen Batman: Odyssey, but I do know that I don't like Neal tinkering with the reprints as he's done with those DC hardcovers recently. Kind of like the old "putting a mustache on the Mona Lisa" cliche.
