Black and White Wednesday: "The Last Moonrise" by Cuti and Morrow
Here's the very first story from the debut ish of Charlton's Space: 1999 magazine (cover-dated November 1975)..."The Last Moonrise" by Nick Cuti and Gray Morrow. Dig it!
Something about this story, especially the faces at the bottom page 1, panel 3 evoke the feeling of a MAD magazine parody (like those drawn by Mort Drucker).
This story was adapted from the show, but they really did a serious abridgment of it. My favorite part of the story is completely missing here--where they figure out that the flight path is taking them past area two on the way to area one. Oh well.
