We're back with more Groovy Age Gold, Groove-ophiles! Up until "The Inside Story of Robotman!" by Otto Binder and the criminally underrated Jimmy Thompson was reprinted in the back of World's Finest #208 (November 1971), the only Robotman Young Groove knew was Cliff Steele of the Doom Patrol. Thanks to WF's "Bureau of Missing Heroes" reprint back-ups, I learned that there was a Golden Age (Earth-2? Roy Thomas would straighten that out in All-Star Squadron the 80s!) Robotman named Robert Crane (aka Paul Dennis), and for some reason that kind of knowledge always thrilled me. Yep, I'm a geek, baby, loud and proud!
And for you completists (of which I yam one, too!) this tale originally appeared in Detective Comics #138 (cover-dated August 1948).
Thank you,Mr Groove!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for those lovely large scans.
A nice treat for my tired old(human)eyes.
Yes,I did type the two words and did prove
that I'm not a robot.(Or am I?...)
Cheers!

Yes, thank you for the larger scans. My eyes appreciate them!
ReplyDeleteJust looking at the pages without reading the story, Jimmy Thompson's art looks incredible.
Lots of panels I know would have had a big impact on me as a kid. That magic is gone, but I know what would have been impressionable on me in my youth
