Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Here's one you're gonna love--Charlton's adaptation of Space: 1999 season 2, episode 1--you know, the episode that introduced the shape-shifting Maya? Yeah! From the final ish of Charlton's Space: 1999 mag (issue 8, cover dated October 1976), here's "The Metamorph" by Mike Pellowski and Gray Morrow!
Awesome!! it's b & w wednesday! Man I loved Charlton's tv based mags. Some of the best artists in the business made these rock! I was bummed out as a kid these were all so short lived those. I bought them all, especially Space 1999 & the $6 Million Dollar Man! Keep'em coming Groovster! I love this excellent website you created! Hey Jolt'in Joe Sinnott's birthday is Oct 21st! Just thought I'd give you a heads up! Joe's been doing questions on videoes for fans on Face Book too.
ReplyDeleteAaaaarrghhh!! These mags are so cool, I wish I could find them. I grew up in the '70s and Six Million $ Man and Space 1999 were two of my favorite shows. I don't remember ever seeing these two mags, but then at the time I probably would not have bought them since they are b+w. I was a dumb kid. Anyway, I really enjoy seeing this stuff. Groovy to the max!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.. I only had a couple of these 1999 issues as a kid, but have since started pickin' 'em up on eBay, just for the beautiful covers alone. I hadn't picked up this final issue yet, but was so curious as to the art changes inside to cover the 2nd year.
ReplyDeleteVery well drawn, but I still miss the imagination of the first year more, now so even with this story adaptation. Thanks for helping my curiousity.
Wow! I never bought any issues of this series and I quite like it; now it's off to eBay (and thanks for the heads up on how cool these were).
