Tuesday Team-up: "The Heart that Attacked the World!" by Bates and Novick

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Kinda like the JLA and JSA had annual team-ups, the Flash and Green Lantern had semi-regular team-ups throughout most of the Silver and Groovy Ages. It got really easy to put the Fastest Man Alive into adventures with the Emerald Crusader when GL was running as the back-up feature in the Flash's mag. Take this terrific team-up from Flash #222 (April 1973) by Cary Bates and Irv Novick (with inks by Frank McLaughlin and Dick Giordano). Our heroes take on two of their top villains, Sinestro and Weather Wizard to save the world, and Novick's pencils make this outlandish adventure look pretty doggoned awesome. Dig it!

    WOW! That advertisement for THE SHADOW drawn by Michael Wm. Kaluta was fantastic! Also loved the full page b&w SHADOW ad that Wrightson did for DC around that time. You should run a feature on DC house ads of the groovy era (don't forget the ads for SWAMP THING as well). Fantastic!

    That was a good read and major blast from the past. I remember reading that comic when I was young but it's not my collection.

    Irv Novick is one of the most underrated artists in the whole of the comics history. He's got the chops!
