Groovy Age Gold: "Death on the Earth-Mars Run!" by Everett Raymond Kinstler

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Kickin' off the week with some Groovy Age Gold for ya from Skywald's The Heap #1 (June 1971), baby! Okay, "Death on the Earth-Mars Run" (author unknown) is originally from Avon's Strange Worlds #8 (August 1952). The reason I wanna share this particular sci-fi shocker is because of the outstanding artistry of Everett Raynomd Kinstler. That's right, THE Everett Raymond Kinstler, portrait artist of the rich and famous. That's right, Groove-ophiles! Get'cher culture right here!

  1. Definitely an E.C. knockoff, right down to the Leroy lettering and the interesting synthesis of Jack Davis cartooning, Al Williamson figures, and Wally Wood spaceships, but that portrait head at the end of page four - best drawing in the whole story - certainly indicated where Kinstler's greatest strength was.
