Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Are you ready for the fearsome final chapter of Roy Thomas and Walt Simonson's adaptation of Robert E. Howard's "The Hyborian Age"? Well, ready or not, from the pages of Savage Sword of Conan #17 (January 1977), here comes "The Darkness...and the Dawn"!
These Hyborian Age features are such a wonderful showcase for Simonson's art. I know I've probably said it before, but Dark Horse really needs to reprint this.
ReplyDeleteWOW!Thank you,Mr Groove,for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWonderful HUGE scans!
I had not seen this final chapter.
Great art by Mr Simonson.

Wow. Did Simonson ink as well?
ReplyDeleteI didn't remember that they (or REH) had ever placed Conan within a specific time, as they do here. Did REH do that? (I suppose there's no way to have worked it into the fictions, so perhaps he only did it in the essay on which this is based.)
Yep!That's ALL Simonson!
DeleteGreat stuff Groove! Loved this pictorial essay by Roy Thomas and art by Simonson, and of course the inspiration by REH.
ReplyDelete- Mike from Trinidad & Tobago.
Cool! What about Chapter 2?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
