Groove's Faves: "Death In Silver!" by Englehart, Andru, and Palmer

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Wouldn't ya like to take a look at a classic Doc Savage adventure from Marvel's color Doc series? Me, too! My fave issues of Doc Savage were issues 3 and 4, in which Steve Englehart, Ross Andru, and Tom Palmer adapt Lester Dent's Death In Silver. Today we're gonna check out issue #3 (November 1972) for "Death In Silver!" Dig it!

Be back tomorrow for the finale!

  1. You and I are thinking on the same lines today. I have a Doc Savage adventure on my site from Giant Size Spiderman at http://mailittoteamup.blogspot.com/2013/09/giant-size-spider-man-3.html

  2. I just read these rather recently for the first time - thanks to that tpb published by DC (and I'm still a bit weirded out by these obvious products of 1970s Marvel being printed by DC). Although I think the stories from the slightly later black and white magazine (again - reprinted by DC!) are generally better, I really like the art in the color series, especially when Andru is inked by Palmer. Those two should have been teamed up more often.

  3. Great stuff -- though I much preferred Marvel's black and white Doc!
