The Grooviest Covers of All Time: Steve Ditko's Super-Heroes

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! From the beginning to the end of the Groovy Age, Sturdy Steve Ditko laid some far-out covers on comicdom (Wow, was that putting things mildly!). Plant your peepers on just a select few of his best super-hero covers...

The Plastic Man half of this cover is penciled by Dave Cockrum, baby!

  1. I love the Charlton covers especially, probably because they feature Ditko's excellent designs for Captain Atom and Blue Beetle.
Starman is another favorite. I recall being disappointed when the dollar anthology format was discontinued for Adventure, but the Starman/Plastic Man double-feature became a fast favorite: fun stories and art by Ditko and Staton. What's not to like?

  2. That Marvel Triple Action cover in particular is a treat since it shows the scene from the John Buscema original cover from a completely different angle. Fresh but true to the source material.

Ditko's Captain Atom and Blue Beetle covers are especially good.

    1. Those were pre-Groovy Age, Matt. But you're right, they were great!
