Setting the Pace: "Weird Stone" by Kraft, Perez, and McLaughlin

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Today we're gonna dig on another chapter of David A. Kraft and The Pace-Setter, himself, George Perez's Man-Wolf saga! From Creatures on the Loose #36 (April 1975), here's "Weird Stone" (with inks by Frank McLaughlin)!

  1. Wow, the art in these Man-Wolf issues keeps getting better and better!

  2. Yes, the art here is really nice. The young Perez was really on fire at this point. Everything looks great here: the figurework, the backgrounds, the panel layout, etc. And McLaughlin's inking is really outstanding as well. He and Perez made a great team, I recall that they did some really nice-looking issues of JLA as well.
And I think Kraft deserves a shout out here as well. I really like these Man Wolf in space stories (culminating in those 2 awesome issues of Marvel Premiere).
And since I've brought it up in pretty much every single one of these Man Wolf posts, I see no reason to break with tradition now: Marvel, *please* reprint these...

  3. They really should have kept Man-Wolf in space--as a regular werewolf, he's kinda dullsville, but a werewolf who has space/interdimensional adventures? Now that's a hook!
