Our Pal Sal: "As I Lay Dying!" by Mantlo and S. Buscema

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Now, how many cool comics have you ever read that start out with the unconscious hero being repaired on a lube rack, and ended with same hero and friends battling evil plants? Only Bill Mantlo and Our Pal Sal Buscema could bring us "As I Lay Dying!" from ROM, Spaceknight #7 (March 1980)! And dig that Michael Golden cover!

Hey, did'ja know today is Our Pal Sal's 79th birthday? Well, it is! Happy Birthday, Sal!!!

  1. I must admit that Rom is not my favorite character in the marvel lexicon but for a character to come from a busted toy line it sure had a long run for a title. And I will agree that is a very strong cover by Michael Golden.

  4. ROM rules, and the dialogue from this poet-turned spaceknight is just Shakespearian enough to make me crow with delight.

Oh, and I highly miss the strong Judeo-Christian themes - "Greater Love hath No Man" indeed.

    *sigh*

    Love yah, Big Buddy.

Thank you so much for sharing this.
