Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Today we're gonna take a look at the grand finale of Marvel Team-Up's Spider-Man/Black Widow/Shang-Chi/Nick Fury epic! Not only do we have a great story by Chris (X-Men!) Claremont to wrap things up, but we get one more lingering look at one of Our Pal Sal Buscema teaming with one of his absolute best artistic partners, Steve Leialoha. You guys really seem to have dug this MTU epic, so let's send it off with a bang! From MTU #85 (June 1979), here's "The Woman Who Never Was!"
Love it; like I said in earlier comments - it comes to a really satisfying, if bittersweet, conclusion. Another really great aspect of this concluding chapter in particular is the team dynamic between the heroes. Even though I actually have these issues in my current collection, I'd still like to thank you once again for posting this story, Groove, because I think it deserves more love and attention.
ReplyDeleteTime's a funny old thing - if I'd read this story back when it first appeared, I'd have loved every single panel of it. Now, though, all I can see are those endless overflorid phrasings that came to typify Claremont's glurge overkill. Oh well, the art was terrific.
ReplyDeleteI had only been reading comics for a year when this came out. It was my first introduction to both Black Widow and Shang-Chi. Beautiful artwork by the Buscema/Leialoha team (wish they had worked together more). Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteViper is so gorgeous. She is my favourite super villain in Marvel Universe. Caroline Munro, Kate Beckinsale or Zita Gorog could play her in a Marvel movie.
ReplyDeleteViper is the most gorgeous and the sexiest female character in the entire Marvel Universe. And Natalya Rudakova could play Black Widow. Claire Foy is very beautiful and she could play Viper aswell. Viper also could make a very wonderful Marvel famous romantic couple with Deadpool because Ryan Reynolds is a very handsome and sexy male sex symbol and my perfect love theme song for Viper and Deadpool if they was a couple in love is "Forbidden Colours" by Ryuchi Sakamoto and David Bowie. Rest in peace, Dear David Bowie. Amen.
