The Grooviest Covers of All Time: June Bats, Round One: Batman

Dig it, Groove-ophiles! Back in the Groovy Age when June rolled around and school turned us loose, were there many better ways to celebrate our fun and freedom than by yanking a Batman comic off the spinner-rack? Yeah, that's what Ol' Groove thought, too! Here we go from June 1967 to June 1980 with a look at what our favorite Darknight Detective was doing for his summer break...

    Wow, some awesome pieces, here. #194, #234 and - of course - #251 made history, and JK to end!

    In retrospective, I'v always thought that #291 cover kinda gave away the culprit (hope I made no spoilers, here!)

    Wow! So many great covers, including one of the all-time best (251). The jump from 214 (marriage) to 224 (red monster) is pretty stark. And that Two-Face cover is also pretty famous. I own about half of these. I’m actually reading 279 (and the other ‘Bicentennial Summer” issue this summer. How many times did Kubert draw Batman?

    I think I had all of these at some point. I lived somewhat far away from civilization growing up and had the Catwoman issue of the "I killed Bats" series, but never managed to pick up the rest of the issues. I also remember when marriage was not a political goal but something to be avoided at all costs! Good times!

    I love issue # 194 with its innovative logo shattering Infantino cover. Thank God there were no Go Go checks to distract from it. There were a smattering of these around DC at the time, but I can't recall any off-hand. Fellow Groovesters?
