Decent Comics: "The Partisans!" By Kirby and Berry
Dig it, Groove-ophiles! More Kirby-at-war wonderment via Our Fighting Forces #155 (February 1975). Jack Kirby, D. Bruce Berry, the Losers, and..."The Partisans!"
That panel where the partisans appear in the mist reminds of the scene in the director's cut of Apocalypse Now where the French colonialists first appear out of the fog, or mist, like ghosts. Since the film came later, maybe the film makers swiped it from Kirby! Fantastic comic. The ambiguity really works here, and the art is tremendous. I really enjoyed it. Thanks!
A really good, good-looking and well-told story, and it didn't take five graphic novels to do it. Great! Thanks Groove!

More Jack Kirby greatness. I sure miss him. Hard to believe he's been gone for 22 years now.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Jack Kirby !
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift he left us all to enjoy so many years after he's been gone.
