  1. Sad news.
Plenty of tributes have been posted online since Sunday, generally with images of Swamp Thing and Frankenstein. Which is as things should be, of course, but its also good to see something a bit different. Nice selection here Groove.

Love the Howard '76 campaign pic - weren't there were once plans for Wrightson to follow Frank Brunner as regular artist on the original HTD, or something like that?
A reminder that Wrightson was as good at humour as horror. But then, the two often went together in his work.

    1. My understanding is that he said he might be interested in drawing for Howard the Duck. Marvel got ahead of themselves, announced he was going to be the regular penciller on Howard, offended Mr. Wrightson and lost any chance of him illustrating the magazine. Besides this beautiful ink wash of Howard, he also did a campaign button of Howard for President, which I used to own. It is very rare and hard to find. I keep looking for it online as I'd like to add it to my collection again.

  2. Wrightson's Shadow was just killer. I only wish he could've filled in for Kaluta back in the day......

  3. How sad. I didn't even know he had health problems. I just finished reading the Comic Creator Wrightson issue. It was like reacquainting myself with an old friend. He and Len Wein's Swamp Thing brought a lot of pleasure to this fan in his high school years. All ten issues were things of beauty and wonderment, especially the iconic # 7 Batman crossover issue (with those crazy ears Mr. Wrightson drew on him). Rest in piece, Bernie, you will be missed. Thanks for the legacy of great work you gave us!
