Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Here's a fun sci-fi shocker from young John Warner (who'd go on to co-create Bloodstone and edit for Marvel's magazine line) and seasoned vet Frank Bolle from Twilight Zone #59 (July 1974). Look out! Here comes..."The Plague!"
Love the old Gold Key line, Twilight Zone, Dark Shadows, Star Trek, Ripley's Believe It Or Not, Boris Karloff, Grimm's Ghost Stories etc. Very underrated titles.
ReplyDeleteThere's a certain sameness to Frank Bolle's art. He relies too much on the same angles in his panels. But he's a solid storyteller. He's in his 90s now and until recently was still working on syndicated strips.
ReplyDeleteFrank Bolle. One of the most underrated artists of our time. Even did some newspaper strips, as he drew Encyclopedia Brown, and took over Winnie Winkle toward the end of that series' run in the NY Daily News. A generous mix of Morrow & Giordano from what I could see in this story.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoyed the TZ this story is a little bit too eerie. WW III in 2020 sure hope it's wrong. Sadly mankind is heading this awful direction the last few decades. Looking forward to seeing many more Twilight Zone posts. Great posts Groovster!!
