Black and White Wednesday: "The Right Hand of Doom" by Moench and Gan

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Hands down (ouch! don't hit!) Robert E. Howard's "The Right Hand of Doom" is Ol' Groove's favorite Solomon Kane tale. Yeah, Kane doesn't have a whole lot to do in this story, but man, it's one of the spookiest, creepiest fear-fables ever! In Savage Sword of Conan #13 (June 1976), Doug Moench and Steve Gan adapted that classic to comicbook form--and they did a Marvel-ous job. Okay, I'm gonna hush--whaddya think, I get paid by the (horrible) pun?

  1. Always enjoyed Solomon Kane, if anyone is interested there is a trade paperback collecting all of the stories that Howard wrote about him, it is an excellent read.

    1. The Savage Tales of Solomon Kane from Del Rey? Yes, that is the ultimate collection and I, too, highly recommend it. Beautifully illustrated with all of REH's prose--finished and unfinished. That whole Del Rey REH series is magnificent. I also highly recommend Dark Horse's tpb collections of both Kane's b&w and color Marvel comics (The Saga of Solomon Kane and the Chronicles of Solomon Kane).
