  1. They mention Gerry Talaoc who's work I always loved, but a actually have read very little about him.

    1. It's funny, but I was always turned off by his art. His stories for DC's mystery mags were always populated by repellant characters with a genuine cruelty & evil etched on their faces, more than the scripts seemed to call for. That was the vibe his work gave me. I *much* preferred other Filipino artists like Tony de Zuniga, Nestor Redondo, Alfredo Alcala, & even the quirky designs of Alex Nino.

    2. Not attacking you, but what did you like about his artwork? I thought he was awful, the ruination of the Phantom Stranger and one of the worst of the Filipino artists.

  2. That issue of Brave & Bold was the first time I ever wrote a letter to a comic book. I complained that the scene with Atom and Batman on the cover didn't occur anywhere in the comic. I didn't learn about artistic license until many years later.
