  1. House of Secrets #87 is an old favourite for Neal Adams' cover and especially for "The Coming of Ghaglan," drawn by Mike Kaluta with uncredited pencilling assists by Berni Wrightson. Classic short story, best in the issue.

    1. Michael tells me the art is entirely his. No assist.

  2. Great Frazetta cover on Vampi, but Ken Kelley missed the mark with his anatomy on the Eerie cover. Good light and shadow, though. He was still young and actually had a few lessons from his uncle Frank. Ellie Frazetta's maiden name was Kelley.

  3. Who published those shlock horror mags? They make Skywald look like top tier Warren by comparison. Ecch!

    1. These were old pre-code 1950s scripts redrawn in 1969 and 1970 in Tales from the Tomb and those other magazines published by Eerie (no affiliation with Warren). I agree, they look terrible.

Give me the Hee Haw comic any day!

  4. Pretty impressive and powerful Stans soapbox there . Its so sad that in 2020 this hideous issue still hasn't gone away in the US (it'is of course sadly the same in most places it just seems especially bad in America). Have to say I love those Archie covers more and more as I get older they always look fun and inviting reads .
