STOP THE PRESSES!! The news that Captain America #601 is slated to be drawn by none other than Gene "The Dean" Colan makes Ol' Groove all kinds of happy! While Genial Gene is best remembered for his stints on Doctor Strange, Daredevil, Howard the Duck, and Dracula (hey, why'd he get all the titles that started with "D"--except the Defenders?), he also had a long run on Captain America during the Groovy Age! Yep, Colan was the regular Cap artist on issues 116-137 (May 1969-February 1971), and during that glorious period he supplied a sensational selection of snazzy splashes! Enjoy this medley of magnificence, Groove-ophiles!
hey man your blog is a badass,,,,,
ReplyDeletei enjoy a lote the cap #601 gene is a good one...
Those Colan Cap's were certainly wonderful, even if this wasn't a strip one would have thought he would have fit in well with (but then he was also excellent on Iron Man and Capt Marvel too). But Capt America had a remarkably good run of consecutive artists on his title in the Groovy years, Kirby, Steranko, Colan, Romita and Sal B!!!!
