Black and White Wednesday: The Savage Pencil of Buscema

Ol' Groove has not been giving the late, great John Buscema the attention he deserves, and I plan on rectifying that sitch--beginning right now! Here are some portfolio pieces, inside covers, and even an interview from various issues of Savage Sword of Conan that show why Big John was perhaps the most admired Marvel artist of the Groovy Age!

    Crom! Is right! I'm collecting art from Marvel Preview magazine#9. The Man-God issue, which is credited to Rich Buckler as the penciler & Tony DeZuniga as the inker. We'll I've found out by e-mail Rich Buckler himself & Roy Thomas. That Rich only drew the first 3-5 pages. According to Roy Thomas who wrote this adaptation. Said the roughs/pencils were done by none other than Big John Buscema!! So I hit the roof! So I now have 16 of the 52 pages! Only 36 more to go. Anyone who sees/owns or knows anyone with these pages for sale or not. I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you! Hey Groovy one thanks for yet another awesome post! Mike micpar2@gmail.com
