Greetings, Groove-ophiles! How would you like a double dose of the delightfully diggable of Don Newton ? I thought you'd enjoy it! Newton produced some exemplary work-at both Charlton and DC, so I thought it might be kinda far-out to take a couple stories with a few years between 'em to read, enjoy, and compare. So, without further yakkin' from yours truly, from Charlton's Midnight Tales #11 (December 1974), here's "Orion" written by the ever-amazing Nick Cuti, followed by the Bob Rozakis penned, Dan Adkins inked "Rescue" from DC's Time Warp #1 (July 1979).
P.S. Anyone else find it kinda cool/ironic that Newton drew a story called "Orion" just a few scant years before he'd provide the art for DC's Orion in Return of theNew Gods?
Actually, t'was Thane of Bagarth by Steve Skeates and Jim Aparo that appeared as the back-up in Charlton's Hercules #1. Newton was still toling away in the fanzines (like Rockets Blast Comic Collector)in 1967.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by and for caring enough to comment, GW!
I think the "Orion" story appeared in the first issue of Adventures of the man-God Hercules back in Oct 1967.
