Greetings, Groove-ophiles! It's a rare treat to get to see Neal Adams apply his penciling prowess to a western strip. It's even more special when he inks it, to boot! Well, he did just that in this far-out fable from Weird Western Tales #15 (September 1972) written by Cary Bates. It's El Diablo in "Never Kill a Demon!"
Always loved this job, even though El Diablo's right hand is on his left arm and is drawn right side up when it should be upside down in the last panel of page 11. lol OOPS. The gang's boss was modeled on my buddy Bernie Wrightson, I believe. Still one of my favorite Adams jobs of the period.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Neal did the colors? 'Cause they're awesome, especially the sky!
