Makin' Chaykin: "Ghoul of My Dreams" by O'Neil and Chaykin

Let's kick this week off right, Groove-ophiles! Let's make this Monday "MOREday"! More Chaykin! More O'Neil! More Dominic Fortune! And more--ZOMBIES! From The Hulk! #22 (June 1980) get ready to meet the..."Ghoul of My Dreams"!

  1. You can post these awesome Chaykin-drawn stories all week as far as I'm concerned. It's really a pity that these Dominic Fortune back-up features from the Hulk magazine were never reprinted anywhere.

  2. Fortune was my favorite comics feature at the time! You made my day!

  3. Dom was always my favorite Chaykin character. Well, him and Reuben Flagg. And I have to agree with Edo, I wish that Marvel would do a trade.

  4. Dominic either missed, or wasn't paying attention to Bela Lugosi's 1932 film, White Zombie, or else he wouldn't have wasted time on getting garlic, crosses, or holy water.
    Fun story!

  5. Any chance of seeing these three Dominic Fortune stories: Moo over Manhattan from Hulk Magazine #23 (Oct. '80), The Tiny Terror Tumble from Hulk Magazine #24 (Dec. '80) and Slay Bells from Hulk Magazine #25 (Feb. '81)? Thanks…

  6. I second that request for the remaining three Dominic Fortune stories. As well as the two black and white ones from BIZARRE ADVENTURES 20. That was some good reading.
And what the hell, complete the set with the Chaykin comic book story from MARVEL PREMIERE 56 too.

Dominic Fortune remains my favorite of Chaykin's characters, a great mix of elements in these stories.

  7. The two from Bizarre Adventures/Marvel Preview/Marvel Super Action are here: https://diversionsofthegroovykind.blogspot.com/2012/02/black-and-white-wednesday-power-broker.html

    and here:

Another color one from The Hulk! is here: https://diversionsofthegroovykind.blogspot.com/2012/03/makin-chaykin-all-in-color-for-crime-by.html

The others are technically post-Groovy Age, but I might just share 'em one of these days--unless they all get collected in a tpb like everything else is these days!
