Welcome back to Weird Worlds Week, Groove-ophiles! Today we're trekking to Venus to hang out with Carson Napier! With "Duare, Princess of Venus" in Korak Son of Tarzan #52 (March 1973), Mike Kaluta took over the writing chores of the Carson of Venus back-up in addition to continuing the art duties. Aaaaaand since each captivating chapter is only five pages long...and today is Tuesday, why don't we toss in KSoT #53's (May 1973) "Catastrophe", as well? Who loves ya, baby?
Mike Kaluta's artwork...always a thing of beauty.I read Korak over Tarzan just for the back-up features.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved this series, with that wonderful art by Kaluta. But I've never completed my collection, and have missed some of the stories.
ReplyDeleteThese were always too short for me. I always wished Kaluta had been able to stretch these out into a full length story. He got a lot done in a few pages.

Yeah, the ultimate Burroughs adaptation - the art just oozes with ERB mood...
ReplyDeleteI loved the Carson of Venus series. Kaluta squeezed a lot of story in a few pages. I wish that he would have had been given more pages and more time to get the story told.
