Can't get enough of our favorite Friendly Neighborhood Wall-Crawler laying the smack-down on the Lizard, Groove-ophiles? Well then feast your eyes on this cornucopia of cavortin' covers featuring Spidey vs. the Lizard--with a few guest-stars mixed in for good measure! And, yeah, Ol' Groove's cheatin' a little by including Amazing Spider-Man #'s 44-45 in the mix--they're slightly (only by a couple'a months) pre-Groovy Age, but ish #44 is the first ish of Spidey I remember owning--and that cover (plus the cover of ish 45) definitely belong(s) in the GROOVIEST COVERS OF ALL TIME category, don'tcha think?
Thank you,Mr Groove!

p.s.I like it when you cheat,Mr Groove.
Your site,your prerogative.
I never noticed before that ish 102 says "Moribus" on the cover. Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing the Spidey Super Stories cover. Keep 'em comin'!
ReplyDeleteLoved Amazing Spidey #76 as a kid. Who could forget the Iguana from Peter Parker? Spidey #102- great Gil Kane art! Giant-Size #5,Man-Thing + Lizard...very cool!
ReplyDeleteGreat covers, I remember the Romita covers very fondly as a boy/very young teen. Just wish you had included the Ditko cover/s? also. AAhhh great creepy memories! Not too sure I'll like the way the Lizard looks in the new movie. I'm sure the action scenes & cgi will look we'll Amazing. But the pics I've seen of the Lizard months back. He looks way too big, like left overs of the Abomination from Hulk II. YUCK! I love Romita's & Ditko Lizard!
ReplyDeleteGotta agree with Mike Mikulovsky, the new movie Lizard looks way to bulky. I would have preferred a sleeker version, but hey they'll make him look menacing with the CGI.
ReplyDeleteBTW I'm gonna see it next week! :)
Yes indeed, 44 and 45 were the first issues I bought as a ten year old in 1967. In fact I think I've still got them. Two of the many beautiful Spider-man covers that John Romita drew. I especially liked the one he did featuring Kraven a couple of months later.
