Famous First Fridays: Ron Wilson's Debut

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Remember Ron Wilson? He's probably best known for his work on The Thing in the 1980s, but during the Groovy Age he was one of Marvel's go-to guys for covers and fill-ins. He also spent a lot of time drawing the Thing in Marvel-Two-In-One (big surprise, huh?), but for me it was his rendition of the Hulk in The Hulk! Marvelcolor mag (remember these splashes?) that turned me on the most. Ron's style was definitely in the Mighty Marvel Manner, synthesizing parts of Kirby, the Brothers Buscema, and Gene Colan in his own unique way. Ron's first interior job was in, of all places, the seventh issue of Chamber of Chills (August 1973) on the Doug Moench-written "Prey for Keeps!" And yep, Ron drew the cover to that ish, as well!
