The Grooviest Covers of All Time: Summer of 1978--the DC Explosion Continues!

Here's a look at the second round of the DC Explosion from July 1978, Groove-ophiles! Teen Groove was out of the fandom loop at the time, so I had no idea how short-lived this super-experiment in comicbookery would last, but I sure was diggin' the ride! Remember these...?

    haha, that last cover is hilarious - if you a non-superhuman crime fighter, wear a mask and have a secret identity, and silver-age Superman, the Superman who could move planets, and has super speed, super reflexes, you name it, suddenly decides he REALLY wants to pull your mask off in public, there's not a heckuva lot you're gonna do to stop it - LOL

    Thanks for the stroll down memory lane Groovester!! I had most of these at the time, except for the war comics and the creepy books...that Action Comics I clearly remember, as well as Firestorm, Steel, JLA, Flash, GL/GA, Superboy and World's Finest.

    First time commenting- I remember severel of these covers and stories of course. Batman Family excellent story with Ragman. Army at War-Witching Hour Creepy. This is a great site . Mot.

    A very busy month for Kubert, Kaluta and Garcia-Lopez! Awesome covers! And it's lovely to see that old favourite, the Batman Spectacular - probably one of THE best comics of the Groovy Age...

    The summer of '78 was when I got serious about comics. I bought many of these very comics off the racks at grocery stores and convenience stores. But I swear I never saw that issue of Secrets of the Haunted House or I would have grabbed that one, too! More than 40 years later, and I'm still finding things that I missed back then.
