Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Wouldn't ya like to take a look at a classic Doc Savage adventure from Marvel's color Doc series? Me, too! My fave issues of Doc Savage were issues 3 and 4, in which Steve Englehart, Ross Andru, and Tom Palmer adapt Lester Dent's Death In Silver. Today we're gonna check out issue #3 (November 1972) for "Death In Silver!" Dig it!
Be back tomorrow for the finale!

Making a Splash: Jack Kirby's OMAC
While I dearly love all of Jack Kirby's Groovy Age output for DC, I have to admit my all-around fave series was the wild and wooly OMAC (that's One Man Army Corps to you, fella)! Short-lived as the title was (only 8 issues from June 1974-August 1975), the costume, the mohawk, Kirby's vision of the future (and, MAN, how eerily accurate in so many ways), the action, the freewheeling inventiveness of it all still turns me on, baby! Yeah, OMAC still hits Ol' Groove where he lives. Care to join me in a stack of stunning splash pages?
And thanx a million to our buds at Mars Will Send No More for the majority of the scans (which I pinched from their wonder-filled website)! You do visit there daily, don't you? Hmmm?

Thursday Team-up: "Hell Is for Heroes" by Haney, Estrada, and Giordano
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Ya know, after 35 or so years, Ol' Groove still isn't sure to make of DC Special Series #8 (November 1977) aka 1978 Brave and the Bold Special. I love the kooky quartet of heroes: The Batman, Deadman, Sgt. Rock, and...Sherlock Holmes?! The plot goes anytime and anywhere-our heroes fight the devil, himself, fer crine out loud--but of course, what else would you expect from the magnificent mind of Bob Haney? Ric Estrada's layouts our good-to-great, but not flashy, while Dick Giordano's inks gives everything a nice, slick sheen. Oh, and the Jim Aparo cover rocks! See what you think, baby...
