Decent Comics: "My Name Is...Bat Lash!" by Aragones, O'Neil, Cardy, and Sekowsky

Howdy, Groove-ophiles! In our past Bat Lash posts, we've talked about the realism and humanity of the strip. We've talked about the lead character's charm, wit, and humor. Today, with his origin, we learn just how tragic a character Bat Lash truly is. In BL ish #6 (June 1969), Sergio Aragones, Denny O'Neil, Nick Cardy, and Mike Sekowsky gave us the story behind the story we'd been waiting for. "My Name Is...Bat Lash!"

    Excellent story and art, I really miss the Western comics, like Bat Lash and Weird Western Tales.

    Cardy inked by Sekowsky? That's a new one on me. I think that's the first time I've ever seen Mike Sekowsky ink someone else.

    That is really a longer-developing and more substantial origin story than many characters have. Both his circumstances and choices changed him
