In Spidey Super Stories #41 (April 1979), the team of Mary A. Mintzer, Linda Karas, Michael Siporin, Win Mortimer, Ric Villamonte, and Don Perlin adapted and simplified Marv Wolfman, John Buscema, and Joe Sinnott's Origin of Nova (as originally seen in Nova #1). Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Today, what'say we trip on back to, oh, about 1967-1970, when Jim Aparo was just taking the comicbook world by storm at Charlton Comics! Charlton's editors knew a good thing when they saw one, and they put JA on many covers--mystery, adventure, sci-fi, romance, western, race cars, even humor! And Jim could do it all--and quite magnificently! Have a heaping helping of Aparo/Charlton goodness and see if your day doesn't seem a lot brighter!

Groovy Age Gold: "The Flying Horse Swindle!" by Samachson and Frazetta
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! How'd ya like to gaze 'pon the greatness of the Golden Age Frank Frazetta? Thought ya would! As luck would have it, "The Flying Horse Swindle!" (written by Joe Samachson) was reprinted in Adventure Comics #417 (February 1972)--Groovy Age Gold, fer sure!

Black and White Wednesday: "The Chan Barbarians" by Ernie Chan
Check it out, Groove-ophiles! Ernie Chan, one of the main inkers on Conan the Barbarian, one of the chief artists on Savage Sword of Conan and the Conan newspaper strip of the late 70s, created six smashing double-page spreads featuring Robert E. Howard's finest (plus one)--and Marvel was smart enough to publish 'em in Savage Sword of Conan #52 (April 1980)! And you, you lucky Groove-ophile, get to plant yer peepers on 'em right now!

The Boys from Derby (Two-fer!): "The Metamorph" and "Escape from Vipon" by Pellowski and Boyette
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Over the past few years, we've looked back at all of Charlton's color Space: 1999 comics--except for the final ish, #7 (August 1976)--what's up with that? So today, Ol' Groove is gonna rectify that sitch by sharing both of Mike Pellowski and Pat Boyette's mini-epics from that fateful final ish, "The Metamorph" (which features the origin of Maya) and "Escape from Vipon"! Dig 'em!
