Two-fer Tuesday: "Carson of Venus"/"Mutiny at Sea" by Wein and Kaluta

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! After watching (and digging) John Carter this weekend, Ol' Groove got re-bitten by the Edgar Rice Burroughs bug. I started re-reading my 1975 (with Neal Adams cover) copy of Tarzan and the Leopard Men (it's been a while!), and I also realized that tt's been waaaaaay too long since we thrilled to the Venusian exploits Carson Napier here on the Diversions! That, thought I, is easy to fix! Here's a double-play of dyn-o-mite sci-fi action and adventure from Len Wein and Mike Kaluta from Korak, Son of Tarzan #'s 50-51 (November 1972-January 1973)! What it is, Groove-ophiles! Been a while since we did a TWO-FER TUESDAY, hasn't it? Well, let's do this thang and do it right! Here are two far-out fantasy featurettes  from one of the all-time greats, Wally Wood, exhumed from the pulpy pages of Marvel's ancient mystery-mag Tower of Shadows!

Countdown to Halloween 2010! A Wrightson/Kaluta Tuesday Two-fer

Welcome back to the Groovy Graveyard! Today we're going to curdle--er--cuddle up by the fire with DC's House of Mystery #195 (July 1971) to enjoy a double dose of demoniacal dynamite by two of Ol' Groove's fave fear-festers, Bernie Wrightson and Mike Kaluta. Wrightson's "Things Old...Things Forgotten" shows the master of the macabre slowly slithering toward Swamp-Thing territory with his "Moss Men". Kaluta's short-short is one of those twist-endings you see coming a mile away, but would be disappointed with anything different. And just for ghoulish giggles, I'm even tossing in Wrightson's creepy cover! Dig, dig, dig it, baby!
