Funny Stuff: John Costanza One-pagers

Dig it, Groove-ophiles! While John Costanza is best remembered as an ace comicbook letterer, he's also a dyn-o-mite cartoonist, to boot! He did tons of humor strips for Gold Key, lots of humor fillers for DC's war mags, and every once in a while he'd do a one-page filler in some other DC comics. In Aquaman #'s 49 and 51 (November 1969, February 1970), Costanza gave us Scuba-Man. Super-Goof appeared in Detective Comics #392 (August 1969), and in Teen Titans #27 (March 1970) and Tomahawk #140 (March 1972) his fillers sort of echoed the lead feature's setting (the moon for the Teen Titans issue and the great outdoors for Tomahawk). Rarely seen stuff here, Groove-ophiles! Hope ya dig it!

Black (and White) Friday: "Modern Technology and the 'Get-Away Car'!" by Jack Kirby

Whether you're resting your full belly or shopping til you drop, you might wanna take a moment to check out this rare Jack Kirby classic intended for the nigh-mythical In the Days of the Mob #2! From Amazing World of DC Comics #10 it's "Modern Technology and the 'Get-Away Car'!" (inked by John Costanza). Can you dig it?

Yeah, it's a shortie but goodie. What did you expect after yesterday's mammoth post? Have mercy, Groove-ophiles!

Groove's Faves: "What If...Celebrities Ran for President?" by Wolfman, Severin, and Costanza

'Tis Election Day in the U.S.A., Groove-ophiles! To celebrate (and help ease the pain if your candidate(s) don't do well), here's a ca-razee piece written by Marv Wolfman with art by Marie Severin and John Costanza (then John lettered it and Marie colored it up purty!) from Spoof #3 (October 1972). Back in '72, newfangled things like 18 year olds getting to vote and celebrities going political were new and novel, inspiring Marv to write "What If...Celebrities Ran for President!" Marvelous Marv's crystal ball was a mite cloudy on the details, but doggoned if he doesn't hit the proverbial nail on the head with his overall prognostications...

Now, if thou hasn't already done so...get thee offeth thine backside and VOTE! Groove hath spoken!
