Dig it, Groove-ophiles! With John Carter, Warlord of Mars #5 (July 1977) Marvel went all in with "truth in advertising" with their "Giant Battle Issue" cover blurb! Writer Marv Wolfman and artists Gil Kane and Rudy Nebres pack so much leaping, dueling, wrestling, and brawling into "...And One Shall Die!" that you might burn off some major calories just reading it! Can you dig it?

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!

I loved this series & the paperbacks from the late 70's. Those had beautiful covers also. Neal Adams Tarzan covers &^ Sreanko's Shadow covers too.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Any Kane art is great.
