Has it really been nearly a year since we gabbed about those cool Aurora Comic Scene model kits from the mid-1970s? Well, it's about time Ol' Groove shared this little piece of comicbook history with ya! Here's the Incredible Hulk Comic Scene--er--comic from 1974 by Lively Len Wein and Happy Herb Trimpe! (Dunno who wrote the copy for the instructions, but the art looks a whole like Delightful Dave Cockrum's doesn't it?)
With some skill and lots of patience, your Comics Scene should'a looked like this:
Incredible, ain't it? Pax!

As for the rest of ya, the purpose of this blog is to (re)introduce you to the great comics of the 1970s. If you like what you see, do what I do--go to a comics shop, bookstore, e-Bay or whatever and BUY YOUR OWN!

Hey there!
ReplyDeleteI loved those as a kid & still do. In fact I just sold all my Aurora models on eBay in the last two months! To pay for my vet bills for my sister kitty Zeus. But he's worth every penny. It's a shame Aurora went out of business back then. I would've loved to had seen The Thing, the new X-Men, some Spider-Man & Hulk & Ff villans. As we'll as Ironfist, Powerman, the Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, Galactus, hercules,Thor,Loki, Zeus,Odin and many more! Too bad models have died out, still love to see these done one day & soon. Based off the art from back then too!
That would have been so sweet, wouldn't it, Mike? Imagine an All-New, All-Different X-Men kit? Or Master of Kung Fu? Or Star-Lord?
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to sell your models, and I hope the cat's doing well, now.
Hey Groovy One
ReplyDeleteGuess I was very tired on my original post. I indeed meant to say my cat was sick, not my sister. I'm afraid he has feline Leukema/cancer & is losing weight. But were making the best of it, only only 6 too. Ya I would have loved to seen the classic Wolverine by Herb Trimpe. The New X-Men based off Dave Cockrum's pencils. Master of Kung Fu, Iron-Fist, Rom Space Knight. Kazar & Sabu!! Loved that aurora Sabertooth tiger model also. from their Prehistoric line. Would've rocked to see Ghost Rider, Morbius, Zombie, Manphbian & Man-Thing as well. Deathlok, the Punisher, ROM, Nova etc.
i had this comic and model.Building the Hulk was the most boring part, being it was a snap together and reading the comic, the best part
